It was our misfortune we didn’t understand the drafts were on the website and by the time we did AP was offline - so I couldn’t access the site.
Yes there is a transaction tab from where you can sign a player first and then release one from your existing squad.
Anyway to inform I have gotten rid of Nelson Semedo of Wolves and brought in Costas Tsimikas of Liverpool. So if anyone wants Semedo they are free to go for him.
As of right now, it's first come first served. You can pick anyone who was in the draft pool.
However, after the matches are played and, say some unpicked player scores a hattrick, everyone will want that player on their team. So for fairness, the first come first served rules goes out the window. After the matches, everyone will be allowed to bid for players for a certain period of time (usually lasts a day or two). And if several teams bid for the same player, then the lowest ranked team will win the bid.

I am surprised there is no "Matchup" page in this league where the head-to-head progress of both opponents is shown. Not sure if there is any on the app but its not on the site at least.

Go to League > Fixtures. That also acts like a matchup page I guess.
Yes you can but now that the matches have been played, your transaction will not process immediately. Other managers can place a bid for the same player you are trying to sign. This is called the "waiver period" where everyone has an opportunity to sign a free agent - it's not first come, first served. This bidding period lasts for a day or two.
Once the waivers are processed, it goes back to first come first served. Immediate transactions.
