Rebuilding Pakistan's Test team

Building Pakistan test team

.nothing is going to shift them out, even if they experience a bad patch, and are all likely to get the backing all the way through the wtc cycle. This would create a framework of the potential lineup which helps us understand the overall picture better

Locks in our team:

1 abdullah

4 babar

5 saud

6 M rizwan

8 shaheen

9 Naseem

11 abrar

A partner to Abdullah Shahfique

Abdullah Shafique is a lock in our team and is very good just needs to play more domestic games. He is one of the best young test openers in the world with a terrific technique.Imam is a HTB and cant handle bouncers in slow pitches. we need a opener who times the ball well and finds gaps.for that role Shan is the best he finds gaps in the ground and score at a high run rate of 5.

1 Shan

2 Abdullah Shafique

A number 3

This player is the core of the team and should be able to play spin excellently and can anchor the innings if needed. He is the run maker and he should be able to set up & score the innings once the platform has been laid by the Openers - still required to look at the big picture of the innings rather than the immediate happenings in the middle. He should be a stroke maker.

Saud Shakeel

Omair bin yusuf

M Huraria

Saim Ayub

Out of the two I think omair yusuf is the better option as he bats at a better s/r

We should debut these two vs wi and play them vs ban - Drop these two from all formats in November-January to play ten matches of the Quaid e Azam Trophy 2021-22; instructions given to have them play at number 3 where they are best situated to play long innings and improve his technique.

M Hurarria has been with the team and should continue to do so.

1 shan

2 abdullah

3 omair bin yusuf

4 babar

5 suad

6 M rizwan

-babar Azam

He is the best batsman in the world. He has a terrific technique but needs to improve on his reflexes and fitness. The way he is throwing his wickets its because of reflexes. No more cake parties from now on

A number 7:

Kamran Ghulam

Qasim akram

Mubashir khan

Sarfraz ahmad

Kamran Ghulam is the best option. He has been a consistent performer he can bowl also he absolutely DESERVES a spot in the test team.He is a reliable option he was the 6th highest run scorer In this season QEA trophy
m Rizwan
Give Kamran Ghulam 10-15 games and see how he performs.Make sure Mubashir and Qasim akram play all games of the QEA trophy and invite them in the NHPC.

Fast bowling allrounder

Ameer jamal is the best fast bowling all/rounder in Pakistan.he took 6 wickets on debut vs aus.He was the best fast bowler in the match. We should make him bat 2-2.5 hours per day in the nets and build on his technique and defence and hitting.

We should drop him from all formats in November-January to play the whole of the Quaid e Azam Trophy and Pakistan cup and national t20 instructions given to have him play at number 7 in fc and 6 in t20 and list A. where he is can improve his technique and defence and hitting.

We need a minimum of two specialist spinners. We can also have a third, who can be an all rounder or part-timer but must make the team on batting merit.

Note, however, that given that our specialist pacers cannot bat, we would like our spinners to have at least some batting ability (otherwise we would finish batting at 7 or 8 followed by a tail).

unfortunately , unless Zahid Mehmood, Faisal Akram, and Umer Khan demonstrate exceptional bowling skills and deliver standout performances in domestic cricket, they may not find a place in our test squad. The only exception would be if they exhibit extraordinary talent, justifying the inclusion of a lengthy tail. Otherwise, it seems more logical to prioritize spinners who can contribute with the bat, as these bowlers don't significantly outperform such multi-skilled spin options.

We arrive at a list like this

Mehran Mumtaz

Usman Qadir
m Nawaz

Zafar gohar

we can say that Mehran mumtaz comes across as particularly special within those five remaining bowlers.

He spins it big both ways, which is an issue whether the batsman can read him or not, and possesses a some good variations. He has the potential to be a matchwinner.

High performance camp for spinners set up in the off season under Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq with the top ten PSL and domestic spinners called up
- High performance power hitting camp set up in the off season under Mohammad Hafeez and Abdul Razzaq with all cricketers in the international limited overs setup called up; special attention given to the bowlers

We have seen many fast bowlers pace camps having been held over the years whenever Pepsi wants to run a marketing campaign, but this time around i think Pakistan needs to do a proper spin camp.

The batter should include our best players of spin and even a few ex cricketers that were very good players of spinners.

Now the data analysis part should be the main focus. The highest wicket taking spinner should not mean that he is the best bowler. Usman Qadir is a very good example that if you go on his cricinfo profile, you see his international stats, you will think he is a very good spinner but was not given a proper run.

Data analysis should be done like this

How many times the bowler pitches the ball at the same place : Line and Length Check
The degree of turn in his bowling : Spin Check
Whether someone is not getting spin due to their action : Action Analysis
How many other deliveries they can bowl and their landing consistency : Variety Check
How many half pitchers and full tosses were bowled: Again Line and Length Check

There can be many other variables aswell.

The idea should be that after this camp, to take out the spinner that has the best line and length and could also turn the ball.

The full toss bowlers need to be plucked out. (Usman Qadir, Usama Mir)
The no turn bowlers but good line and length ones should also be plucked out. (Imad and Nawaz)

These plucked out bowlers should be red flagged, while the concentration should be on the spinners that spin and offer turn

Fast bowlers:

Other than Shaheen and naseem, not a single bowler is an absolute lock for the. I consider naseem a lock due to his reverse swing skills which none of our other pacers have, and because he can bat too.
For now, I lean towards playing Shaheen, naseem, ameer jamal ,with Kashif ali and M Waseem jnr and Khurram shahzad benched (rotated). This is purely because M waseem jnr has yet to be able to make an impact in international cricket despite improving by the day.

Options(exept naseem and Shaheen they are locks):

1 ameer jamal

2 M Waseem jnr

3 Kashif ali

4 Khurram shahzad

5 M Zeeshan

Monitor progress across international and domestic cricket
- Set up a high performance camp to have Ameer jamal, M Waseem jnr, Kashif ali,Khurram, and zeeshan work on their line and length during the off season

So by the end we will have a squad of

1 shan

2 Abdullah

3 omair yusuf

4 Babar

5 Suad

6 Rizwan

7 kamran ghulam

8 amir jamal

9 shaheen

10 naseem

11 Abrar

12 M Waseem Jnr

13 Khurram Shahzad

14 M Hurraria

15 Mehran Mumtaz

16 Mubashir khan

now that we have a team we should create our own brand of cricket Ie, PAKBALL
we should bat at RR of 5 an over. Shan, Babar, Saud, Rizwan should bat at a strike rate of 70 give a chance of a high score
our bowlers should bowl to get wickets bowl on attacking lines and length hitting top of the stumps. The captain should have individual fields for each batter creative fields out of the box.Shaheen should only bowl 4 per session so that we can get more pace and swing out of him.

Shaheen Shah Afridi - 4 overs per session at 145K
Naseem Shah - 5 overs per session at 145K
Ameer jamal - 6 overs per session at 135K
suad - 3 overs per session
kamran ghulam- 3 overs per session
abrar - 5 economical overs per session.
